Cadet Grade - Junior blackbelt ~
Have a good understanding of Japanese used in Judo.
Have a basic knowledge of the founder of Judo and why Judo was developed.
Senior Grade - Shodan onwards ~
Be fully conversant with the terminologies used in Judo.
Understand the principles behind the development of Judo.
Understand the fundamental applications of techniques and how they work.

General Requirements.

Demonstrate and understand basic teaching skills.
Demonstrate and understand five Judo techniques of your choice, that can be used in self-defence.
Demonstrate refereeing skills and the correct terminology.
Explain what factors of any given technique used in contest can affect the score given by the referee.
Demonstrate basic first aid skills (if candidate holds a valid First Aid Certificate - not required).
Contest with six opponents of varying grade and ability.

General Responsibilities.

Becoming a Black Belt brings about its own responsibilities, people will look to you for guidance, you will be expected to demonstrate techniques correctly and to teach them correctly, you will have to maintain the correct discipline etiquette and observe the correct protocol's of Judo.
Above all realize that becoming a Black Belt is just the beginning, now is the time that you really begin to learn and understand Judo.
The choice is be a good Black Belt or be a bad one!
